These latest releases, plus several more new acts, complete the national acts for the Red Skylineup for the 2011 year. Red Sky will run the gamut from local rockers 311 – whose latest album ,Universal Pulse, drops the same day as their headlining performance – to rapidly rising country superstars Jason Aldean (ACMA winner) and the Zac Brown Band (Grammy Award Winners). Genre bending Kid Rock and hit makers Journey with Night Ranger round out the headliners. The Festival Grounds include bands as diverse as George Clinton, 10,000 Maniacs,Bruce Hornsby and STS9.
The music starts at noon each day with the winners of the Battle of the Bands Showcases leading the charge. The Battle of the Bands Showcases have sparked strong interest locally and across the region, with more than a hundred and fifty bands submitting their music. The best of these have
been invited to perform at several different locations across Omaha starting June 10th. Fans are encouraged to come out for the performances and help pick the local bands that will open Red Sky each day.
The Red Sky Music Festival will not hold an evening show on Saturday, July 23rd. Several bands and artists were considered. On more than one occasion, MECA and Live Nation were close to an announcement. Timing and routing conflicts prevented these acts from being able to play. The
Red Sky Music Festival Grounds will be open Saturday.
The Metropolitan Entertainment & Convention Authority and Live Nation are excited for our inaugural year award winning line up, and we know thousands of you are as well judging by ticket sales. The shows include some of the hottest musical acts touring this summer and the chance to support local favorites who will be joining these bands on the Festival Grounds eachday. We appreciate the support of our fans and encourage those just discovering us to check out our website at redskyfestival.com and to join our page on Facebook for the latest news, Battle of the Band updates and contests. We look forward to seeing you on the Festival Grounds this July!
